Podcasts without an iPod

Just want to clarify something here to everyone . . .

You do not need to have an iPod or iTunes to hear Podcasts. All you need is a computer and an internet connection. If you go to my Podcast webpage

http://www.bestradioyouhaveneverheard.com

you can listen quite simply by clicking the links on the site or better yet, Control-Click (mac) or Right Click (windows) and download the whole show and play it back however you play any mp3 file. This is preferred as it will not rack up excessive bandwidth charges to me and you have it forever

To load the podcasts into your iTunes as a subscription go to the main podcast page

http://www.bestradioyouhaveneverheard.com/podcasts/

Once there, there is an orange One-Click for iTunes button. It works great.

You can also plug this into the Subscribe To Podcast under the Advanced pull down menu in the tool bar of iTunes (version 4.9 or higher) for a direct ride to my Podcast. It also works for all podcatching applications like iPodder or Juice.

No matter how you subscribe, it will automatically check for updates and download the new podcasts as soon as they become available. Just check at the beginning of the month and they will be there waiting for you. Might even find an archive show to surprise you now and again !

Once you’ve downloaded it (if you like) and you wanted to expand it to a .wav file for PC or an .aiff file for Mac, you can burn it directly to CD (where it will fit very neatly as they were originally produced for CD) or do just about anything you might do with a mp3 file.

What is "The Best Radio You Have Never Heard?"

I suspect some explanation would be in order here.

I have been making compilations of music for many years.
I started out by recording songs from WLS and WCFL in Chicago with a little microphone to the speaker back in the sixties.
Since then I have worked in many aspects of the music biz including radio programmer and announcer, sound mixer, tour/production manager, club DJ, music writer (journalist) and record retail at the best record store ever to sell a platter, Val's Halla in Oak Park, IL USA.
But the compilations continued over the years on cassettes. Probably thousands out there in circulation. Only recently did I find out that people would steal them from each other. They'd see a cassette with a funny title and my handwriting and it was GONE !

Well, technology evolved and I turned to CDs and my Mac. The content pretty much stayed the same; music of all genres from the 60's, 70's 80's 90's and 00's edited and mixed together in a seamless way that enabled different formats to work wonderfully together.

After much prodding I decided to give Podcasting a go and see if in fact, other people would enjoy having a listen to the compilations.
After a bit of fussing around figuring how to make it work the first series is up and ready for downloading.

With 500mb of space I will change them probably monthly or so depending on the response.

If you have the notion, leave a post here or shoot me an e-mail to let me know if there is somebody alive at the other end of this thing.
Need to know if the $ for the web hosting is paying off with happy downloaders . . .

It's come to this, then ?

Could I function in a modern time without a cell phone, bottle of water or a web blog ?
Apparantly not, as here I am. At least I have not been forced to drink light beer.
More to follow as I seek how to add code to take you directly to or from my Podcasts or from my podcast home page
